HMRC has published new advisory fuel rates (AFRs), effective from 1st March 2026.
There are no changes to petrol or diesel mileage reimbursement rates.
Available at https://comcar.co.uk/taxpages/afrs/, Petrol AFRs remain at 12 pence per mile (ppm) for engines up to 1,400cc, 14ppm for engines between 1,401–2,000cc, and 22ppm for engines over 2,000cc.
Diesel rates are also unchanged, staying at 12ppm for engines up to 1,600cc, 13ppm for 1,601–2,000cc, and 18ppm for engines above 2,000cc.
LPG rates for vehicles up to 1,400cc fall from 11ppm to 10ppm, engines between 1,401–2,000cc drop from 13ppm to 12ppm, and vehicles over 2,000cc reduce from 21ppm to 19ppm.
HMRC previously split the advisory electric rate (AER) between home and public charging when rates were updated from 1st September 2025, introducing a higher reimbursement rate for drivers using the public charging network.
The home charging rate, which was reduced from 8ppm to 7ppm from 1st December 2025, remains unchanged at 7ppm for the quarter starting 1 March, while the public charging rate has increased from 14ppm to 15ppm.
