HMRC has published the latest advisory fuel rates (AFRs), effective from 1st September 2025, with changes to some diesel company car rates and to the Advisory Electric Rate (AER).
Available at https://comcar.co.uk/taxpages/afrs/, diesel engines up to 1,600cc have increased by 1ppm to (12ppm), while 1,601-2,000cc (13ppm) remain unchanged, and over 2,000cc have risen by 1ppm to (18ppm).
Petrol engines up to 1,400cc remain at (12ppm), 1,401-2,000cc (14ppm), and engines over 2,000cc (22ppm).
LPG rates remain the same: engines up to 1,400cc (11ppm), 1,401-2,000cc (13ppm), and over 2,000cc (21ppm).
Hybrid vehicles continue to be treated as either petrol or diesel for AFR purposes.
The Advisory Electric Rate (AER) used for reimbursing electric company car drivers has now been split into two rates: (8ppm) for home charging and (14ppm) for public charging, replacing the previous flat rate of (7ppm).
