HMRC has released its latest advisory fuel rates (AFRs) and Advisory Electric Rate (AER) this week, which will come into force from 1st June 2024.

Available at all three rates for petrol have increased. Engines up to 1,400cc (14ppm), 1,400-2,000cc(16ppm). Engines over 2,000cc have increased by 2ppm (24ppm).

Diesel rates have also all increased across all engine sizes. Up to 1,600cc (13ppm), 1,601-2,000c (15ppm) and engines over 2,000cc (20ppm).

AFRs for LPG-powered vehicles have meanwhile remained unchanged. Engines up to 1,400cc (11ppm), 1,401-2,000cc (13ppm) and over 2,000cc (21ppm).

Hybrid cars are treated as either petrol or diesel cars for AFR purposes.

The Advisory Electric Rate (AER) used to reimburse drivers of electric company cars, has been cut by 1ppm (8ppm). This was previously maintained at 9ppm following the last quarterly review in February, after being reduced by 1ppm, from 10ppm, at the end of last year.
